Production team and roles.

Now that we had finally decided on our group. We had a meeting and decided these would be our job roles.

Kyle - Director
Israr - producer
Chris - Camera man
Alex - Researcher
Anwar - ilistator

We where all happy with our roles.

Practice shots with first person view.

A few cast members took part in a practice shooting in the studio we only used Panasonic camera. We practiced a number of first person shots that may be seen within our production just to see what they may look like, we thought they looked good and were happy to continue with our production.

Treatment.

Idea Our idea was based on the N1H1 pandemic.

As the NHS already had a number of adverts stating the threat of the N1H1 virus, we had to be different, so how would we do this?. we decided to take the role of the virus in a first person showing how the virus spreads through a regular household.

The adverts starts with a postman delivering letters, this is where the spread starts, regardless he still posts the letters unknowing of what he has done. From this point the audience will see the advert from the perspective of the virus on the letters. A women will then pick up the letters (she now has the virus on her hands) and leaves them on the side. A man then enters the house, picks up the letters, checks them and puts them down (he now has the virus)he then hugs his wife and carries on into the living room where he picks up the remote and then leaves it on the seatie next to his son picks it up and changes channel (he now also has the virus). The grandfather then hands him a sweet and the virus travels through the child's hand to the grandfathers. At that point, the advert rewinds to the start and then we see the postman catch his sneeze in a tissue, this is to show how the spread could have been stopped. He then posts the letters which will have the phrase "catch it, bin it, kill it" on it.

Theme.
Due to the fact that our advert will be informative it is crucial that our facts and figures are 100% true.

Duration.
After much research on extended adverts such as the yo valley advert, we decided our advert would be best around the 1 - 1 1/2.

Style.
our advert will be informative in that it will inform the public of how easily the N1H1 virus is spread.

Audience.
After researching the people most at risk to the N1H1 virus we found that its 60+, pregnant women and children under the age of 5. most at risk. Due to this in our advert there will be a mixture of people most at risk.

Resume.
The advert is being made for a specific target audience and will be made to show how easily the N1H1 virus can spread around a regular household. Our advert will be informal as it

Budget.
There is no budget for our production.

Timescale.
We have approximately 3weeks to complete our pre-production and then the rest of the time to get down to the production and editing of our final product.

Research on first person filming.

As our extended advert will involve a lot of first person filming with the camera taking the form of the N1H1 virus itself I have decided to researched into techniques of first person filming. First person filming is the filming from the point of view of a person or object.

I found that the best example of first person filming came in the form of the sitcom series peepshow. Peepshow revolves around a first person type of view, to do this head cams are regularly used.

Doom is a film that also involves a lot of first person filming. After watching the film
myself very interested in how the film was created and the techniques used. I found that the film was created on the back of the very popular first person video game.

Halloween (1978 film) is a good example of one of the very first films to use the first person camera techniques. Although i didnt get around to watching the film i did find some interesting images.

Pitch.

We pitched using a power point presentation
In my opinion our pitch went rather well, i believe we proposed our idea's well.

In our feedback we received a lot of praise as well as constructive criticism.
We found that people had a very mixed opinion, some thought our idea was good while others critisized.

My role in the pitch was to describe my role within the group (camera man) i described the camera shots that's would be in the production and the research i had undergone.

I took some spare time to create a few graphs to tally our feedback.

As you can see from the table we had a wide varety of feedback, personally i believe that our idea was very good, although the NHS already had a Catch it, Bin it, Kill it campainge ours would be bring a new light on the virus and how it is spread around a regular household and it can be something as simple as a letter that could cause you to catch a life threatening virus.

Minutes meeting 4.

Minutes meeting 4.
26th January 2011, 9:10am
JW Mac Suite.

Agenda:
Finalize idea

Present:
Chris, Kyle, Alex, Anwar and israh joined late.

Kyle: The postman walks towards the door and sneezes on the letters just before he posts them. The postman then posts the letters and a women picks them up.

Me: How will the germ spread from there?.

The original idea consisted of the virus being spread through the food the mother was making, me and kyle thought this lacked originality.

Kyle: The virus could be spread by the letters, someone could pick up the letters and hand them out to the family members.

Israr: Israr turned up to the meeting late, he was briefed on what we had talked about so far and had concerns about how much the original idea had changed.

Me: I stressed that the original "first person" idea had not changed we just needed a more interesting way to spread the virus through the family.

As a group we spoke about how the virus could be spread.

Kyle: Kyle brought up the idea of the letters being the main cause of the spread of the virus, the virus will spread round the house before everyone sits down to eat dinner. Then the advert will rewind back to the start then we will see how the virus is stopped.

Minutes meeting 3.

Today we had a lot of confusion about our idea between the group so we decided to hold a minutes meeting;

25/1/11 1:15pm

JW Mac Suite

Agenda: Finalising visual concept
Present: Kyle, Chris, Israr, Anwar, Alex

Kyle: We could do two sides to the advert, a wrong and right, and show the exact same happenings but taking different actions and the consequences caused.

Chris: Using the idea we have, we could split the screen showing the wrong and right.

Kyle: Could be hard on the eye.

Israr: (Idea) We have a child walking down the stairs, a parent enters the house, when the child sneezes, then in first person the germ jumps out the child's mouth, then the next scene would be of a parent cooking when the germ enters starts to enter the dining room, the germ the sneaks around until it reaches it's target.
(End of meeting)

we came back to the meeting later that day, i took over the role of handling the minutes.

As a group we all agree that we need to show people most at risk of catching the N1H1 virus in the advert.

Kyle: A postman posts mail into the letterbox, but sneezes onto the mail as he posts it. Germ is shot in first person view as it enters the house, the germ sneaks around the house, peaking round corners, sneaks up on parent, the jumps onto her (in first person) and infecting her with the virus. The parent then sneezes spreading the virus to the food.

Kyle: We could show the whole advert then, you would see it all rewind really fast, to the point where the mother sneezes onto the food, and see her just catch it in a tissue and bin the tissue, to show how easily you can prevent the spread of it.

Israr: A mature voice over is needed for the voice over at the end of the advert.

Kyle: How are we going to show the parent passing the germ to the rest of the family? We could show her sneezing onto the food and then she serves it up infecting everyone who's eating it.

Anwar: At the start of the advert we could show the parent picking up the infected envelopes showing how she catches the virus.

We ran out of time, but we all agree that we need to think of better ways showing the spread of the virus than just through food, and because it's an extended advert, we can show a variety of ways because we have enough time.

Minuites meeting 2.

Meeting #2

5/1/2011 11:30am

JW Mac Suite

Agenda:
Our idea
Finalise job roles
Props needed

Present:
Kyle, Chris, Israr, Alex, Anwar

Kyle: I started the meeting off discussing our idea for the 5 a day extended advert.

Israr: Suggests an idea that we could have different fruits; Pineapples, grapes, strawberries, apples, and oranges all in a fruit bowel, they all race to make it to the food blender, which will be the finish line.

Kyle: I like the idea, but would the fruit shake look appetizing, if you're trying to get more people to eat healthy, the food needs to look appetizing.

Anwar: Where would it be filmed?

Kyle: I suggest in college or we could film at my house.

Israr: Suggests we could film it using a white background, similar to the iPod adverts so the focus of the advert is on the fruit.

We finalised our job roles which are;
Producer: Israr
Director: Kyle
Sound/Programme Researcher: Alex
Illustrator/Writer: Anwah
Cameraman: Chris

Wednesday, 12 January 2011

The start of our production management.

Meeting1 10/12/10, 10:00am
JW Studio

Present: Kyle, Chris, Luke, Matt, Nick.

Agenda:
Ideas
Production team

Kyle: I suggest we discuss our idea to use stock frame animation and create a short film.

Chris: Suggest we could create an action themed short film using stop frame animation.

Luke: Mentions to speak to Pete about Morph - a programme which Pete's teacher worked on.

Luke: Suggests we film our short film instead of taking individual photos then turn it into stock frame animation in post production.

Kyle: Suggest we finalise who we are working with before we progress any further.
